In Praise of a Home – at Gems City, Joka

Nothing is more beautiful nor more apt in describing what a home means in our hearts, than these words of the American poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson. They evoke that warm feeling we commonly associate with coming back home, either after a long day at work or a long sojourn abroad. On a more practical note, a home is where people typically spend most of their time, a common venue for social contact and, for most people, a major financial and personal investment.

One’s choice of residence also reflects one’s choice of the surrounding neighbourhood, which has a significant impact on one’s well-being and quality of life. How true are the words of this quotation! We can choose our friends, but rarely, if at all, do we get a chance to choose our neighbours. Here, at Gems City, Joka, we can at least be assured that the most prominent feature of a gated community will be on our side – that they are gated on a special group of people such that one cannot enter and exit freely without being a member or at least getting access permission. So, unwanted people will have to stay out, and we will be left with neighbours who share our concerns and belong to the same socio-economic class.

Whatever one may conjecture, choosing one’s house is not a simple decision to make. A bungalow or apartment is very important for individuals; after all it’s going to be their home! Choosing the residential location is not only limited to the definition of the connections with the urban environment but it also influences the whole family’s lifestyle – their activity, wellbeing, social life, work and education.

Every member of the family has an individual dream around their new home.
